The state of Maryland has one of the most dynamic and diverse Muslim communities in the country. While there are no exact numbers as to how many Muslims live in Maryland, but there are over 40 mosques and estimates from some officials say that Muslims in Montgomery County alone accounts for 6.5% of the county’s total population.

I am working on a research project to study what these new districts and their demographics mean for the Muslim community in Maryland. Moreover, I am researching what these districts will mean for Muslims considering to run for Congress.

Yet, unlike the work done by other minority groups, Muslims still haven’t developed their own political institutions to a professional level that help prepare and educate our community leaders and public officials about the needs and potential of the Muslim Marylanders. I am working to change that, insha’Allah (that’s Arabic for by God’s grace). But I need your help.

If you can make a monetary donation to keep The Modern Rumi blogging about politics from a genuine Muslim Marylander perspective, it will go a long way to helping keep my research project about congressional redistricting & Muslims in Maryland going. If you want to purchase my report before it is released, you can do so by contacting me directly. The cost is 150 dollars.
